About Us
The Children and youth of Springs School now have a place to go during and after school to FEEL the earth and to GROW and HARVEST food. And students will experience how food is INTEGRAL to SUSTAINING our beautiful planet. The school garden doesn't produce enough food to feed the whole school yet but one day we hope to be there!
Teachers are integrating GARDEN ACTIVITIES into their curriculum. Students are very busy GERMINATING seeds and are studying the life cycle...MUDDY AND MESSY.
The Greenhouse is creating a sense of COMMUNITY. Volunteers are contributing to this outdoor learning space in a variety of ways from construction to maintenance teams, grant writing, and helping students learn the art of planting Seedlings. QUAIL HILL FARM has partnered with us to help oversee the garden plantings and technical knowledge to be successful.
We want to make it LAST! Growing such a successful outdoor classroom doesn't happen all at once. And it doesn't last without SUSTAINED EFFORT. We raised $50,000 in private donations last year to build this state-of-the-art Greenhouse.
We also plan a unique "SEEDLINGS FARM" SUMMER PROGRAM to help our children experience the JOY OF GROWING, HARVESTING, AND EATING FRESH FOOD, with energetic activities and self esteem building summer days. We have a commitment from a Foundation of $10,000 for each of the next 5 years, but we'll need YOUR HELP to achieve these goals.
We are very GRATEFUL in advance for your HELP.
